Name is an important part of a child's personality. The kids begin to identify their names right from the start when the parents start calling them. They love the sound of their name and the lovely way in which their parents say it.However, actual identification of the name in a written format starts afterwards.

There are 3 stages to this process.

Firstly, Recognition. The parents can label children's items with their names in order to help them with this stage. Once the kids start recognizing their names, they'll be able to notice even the initials on their names anywhere they can!

Secondly, Spelling. The kids will be need to taught the spelling. The kids first learn the alphabets orally even before they learn how to write them. Spelling of their names can be taught to them using various activities.

Thirdly, Writing. Once they are versed with their name spelling, they can be taught how to write their names. This will even entail the development of their fine motor skills along the process.

The Know Your Name activities that we'll bring to you will focus on both spelling and writing part of this process. So, let's see what all we have got in store for you!

String the Name

This activity focuses on the spelling aspect of the process. The kids need to string the beads according to their name spelling to make their name bracelet. By wearing and seeing it daily the kids will also be able to memorize the spelling with ease. This activity's secondary focus is also on fine motor skills, hand eye coordination, alphabet recognition and learning sequencing.

Find the Name

Today we are bringing to you 2 activities, one is through scratching and the other is through peeling. Both the activities have a surprise element of finding your name which keeps kids excited and engaged in the activity. This activity also has the usage of colours which further makes the kids interested and visually stimulated to learn new things!

Post the Name

In this activity we have used post-it notes and velcro alphabet cards to help kids memorize their names. The kids need to stick the velcro alphabet cards / post it notes to spell out their names. This is a fun activity and also reusable! Kids get to play with colourful post-its and also in the process they get to develop their fine motor skills when they stick and pull off the velcro cards/post-its.

Clip the Name

We believe that learning activities should always be such that entice the kids to play and learn. That's our focus and that's what we make sure to incorporate in all our activities. This activity brings together the concept of cloth hanging with name recognition. The kids can learn spelling in this way where they have to hang the paper letters in the shape of clothes to spell out their name. The activity also focuses on pinch grip and fine motor skills in general.
