We have all heard about how maintaining a ‘Piggy Bank’ is a good habit for kids. This is true but another habit that is mostly neglected in kids is maintaining a wallet. Whereas piggy bank inspires kids to save, a wallet makes them responsible for their money and teaches them how to maintain an orderly space for money.

For our today’s project we have created a wallet for kids but with a ‘twist’. It has several features that makes it both attractive and educational for the kids. Let us list them:
- We have created many pockets which each corresponds to a denomination of money. This teaches the kids to keep their wallets organized.
- The pockets also help the parents to teach their kids about sorting the money.
- The pockets created are make of colourful sheets to make it vibrant.
- The outer cover of the wallet is made in chalkboard style. This enables the kids to write the sum total of the money that the wallet holds. This makes the kids responsible for their money and teaches them the concept of addition.
- Every time the kids take out any amount of money, they can also re-write the sum total because of ease provided by chalkboard style. This hence teaches them about both the concepts of addition and subtraction.
A wallet is thus a great idea to teach your kids about money and so many different concepts! Just follow the steps below to form one for your kids.

Step 1: Firstly, take any single coloured sheet, we have taken an orange one first. Draw an 18x15 cm rectangle on the sheet and create a 1cm border on 3 sides of the rectangle as shown in the image.
Step 2: Now create diagonal creases in the side margins of the rectangle such that from A to B and D to E it is 9 cms and B to C and E to F it is 8 cms.
Step 3: Cut the excess and fold according to the diagonal crease we created as shown in image. Apply glue to the creased area. Stick it and first pocket for the wallet is ready.
Step 4: In the same way, create more colourful pockets.
Step 5: Stick double sided tapes on all the pockets barring the first one as shown in the image.
Step 6: Stick the pockets together to get the pockets bundle. Add the dot stickers with the currency denominations mentioned on them.
Step 7: Take a black sheet of 13x22cms and divide it in different sections length-wise as shown in the image.
Step 8: Make a small strap and stick it at the bottom-center width-wise.
Step 9: Fold all the sections made in step 7 to make the wallet body. Make a slit in the front according to the width of the strap created in step 8 so as to enable us to lock the wallet.
Step 10: Add double sided tapes on internal sides of the wallet as shown in the image so as to enable us to stick the pockets bundle.
Just stick the pocket bundle to the wallet body and Voila! The wallet is ready! Now, let your kids enjoy and learn!
